Understand the basics before you take a seat at the table — blackjack is simpler than you might think.
Get a hand value closer to 21 than the dealer without going over 21 (bust). Card values: 2–10 at face value, J/Q/K worth 10, Ace worth 1 or 11.
Hit – request an additional card. Stand – stay with your current hand. Double Down – double your bet and receive one card only. Split – split a pair into two separate hands.
Ace + a 10-value card (J, Q, K or 10) on your first two cards = Natural Blackjack. Pays 3:2 (RM150 on a RM100 bet) — the biggest single-hand win available!
When the dealer's first card is an Ace, you can place an insurance bet worth half your original bet. If the dealer has Blackjack, insurance pays 2:1.
Regular win: 1:1. Natural Blackjack: 3:2. Push (Tie): bet returned. Insurance: 2:1. Dealer bust (exceeds 21): all active players win.
The dealer must Hit on 16 or below and must Stand on 17 or above. In most variants at gempa99, the dealer Stands on Soft 17 (Ace + 6), giving players a better edge.
Blackjack is the only casino game where outcomes are genuinely influenced by player skill. With the right basic strategy, the house edge can be reduced to as low as 0.5% — bringing the effective RTP close to 99.5%. That's what makes blackjack at gempa99 so compelling compared to most other casino games.
| Your Hand | Dealer 2–6 | Dealer 7–9 | Dealer 10 | Dealer Ace |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 8 or under | Hit | Hit | Hit | Hit |

| 12–16 | Stand | Hit | Hit | Hit |

Everything you need to know before you sit down at your first blackjack table
If there's one casino game that truly challenges your mind while keeping things exciting, it's blackjack. Unlike slots, which rely entirely on luck, or roulette, where you simply pick a number — blackjack puts the decision-making power in your hands. Every hand is a small puzzle: do you Hit, Stand, Double Down or Split? The right call can significantly change the outcome, and that's exactly what keeps so many Malaysian players coming back to blackjack at gempa99.
Blackjack is the casino game with the lowest house edge when played with the correct strategy. Classic Blackjack at gempa99 offers an RTP of up to 99.5% – meaning the house edge is just 0.5%. Compare that to slot machines, which typically carry a house edge of between 2% and 12%, or European roulette at around 2.7%. Blackjack clearly offers far better value to players willing to invest a little time in learning basic strategy.
At gempa99, blackjack comes in several variants, each with its own appeal. Classic Blackjack is the perfect starting point — standard rules, one or more decks, and transparent payouts. It's the most widely played version among Malaysian players new to blackjack because it introduces no confusing side rules, letting you focus entirely on basic strategy without worrying about complex rule variations.
Live Blackjack has been the fastest-growing variant among Malaysian players over recent years. Coming face to face with a real dealer via high-quality live video streaming adds a social and emotional dimension that digital-only games simply cannot replicate. When the dealer draws an Ace as the first card and you have just seconds to decide on insurance, the adrenaline hits differently compared to clicking a button in a computer game. gempa99 partners with Evolution Gaming, the world's leading live casino provider, to deliver the best possible live blackjack experience for Malaysian players.
Speed Blackjack is a great option for players who are already comfortable with basic strategy and want to maximise the number of hands played per session. The key mechanic is that the player who acts first receives their cards first – this encourages quick thinking and faster decision-making. For those who prefer a higher-tempo game, Speed Blackjack at gempa99 delivers a more exhilarating experience than a standard table.
Infinite Blackjack solves a classic problem in live blackjack — the limited number of seats at a table. In traditional blackjack, a table typically seats only 5 to 7 players, meaning others have to wait when it's full. Infinite Blackjack removes that restriction entirely — all players act on the same base hand but make their own independent decisions. This means you can join a table at any time without waiting for a seat to open up. During peak hours on Friday nights or weekends, Infinite Blackjack at gempa99 is the most practical option going.
For serious players with larger bankrolls, Blackjack VIP and Salon Privé are the exclusive destinations at gempa99. Salon Privé tables accept bets of up to RM100,000 per hand and deliver a level of privacy and service on par with the VIP experience at the finest physical casinos. Access to these tables is reserved for gempa99 Platinum and Diamond VIP members — a clear, tangible benefit of the platform's VIP Rewards programme.
Basic blackjack strategy is a mathematically calculated set of decisions designed to maximise your winning probability in every situation. It factors in your hand value and the dealer's upcard to determine whether the best move is to Hit, Stand, Double Down or Split. Learning basic strategy doesn't require advanced maths — there are simple reference charts you can memorise or consult when you're starting out. After a few practice sessions in demo mode at gempa99, most players find themselves making the right calls instinctively, without needing to check the chart at all.
At gempa99, convenience is a top priority when it comes to payments. DuitNow deposits are the fastest — funds hit your account in seconds so you can be at the blackjack table almost instantly. Touch 'n Go eWallet, GrabPay, Boost and ShopeePay are equally popular choices, especially among players in their 20s and 30s who are already familiar with Malaysia's digital wallet ecosystem. For withdrawals, gempa99 is among the fastest in Malaysia — most verified accounts receive their winnings within 15 to 30 minutes.
For new players who have never played blackjack before, the best advice is to start with demo mode at gempa99. Practice with virtual credits, get familiar with the game interface, master the fundamentals of basic strategy and once you feel ready – then play with real money. Blackjack is easier to pick up than poker, demands more skill than slots and offers better odds than almost every other casino game when the correct strategy is applied. That combination makes it an exceptionally attractive choice for savvy Malaysian players at gempa99.
